Ministries
“Our mission at Beatitudes is to be a blessing to our community regardless of gender identification, color, abilities, religion, or age. We welcome all who ask for help, meeting basic human needs, and those who volunteer in order to stand with those in times of trouble and to rejoice with those who celebrate.”
Beatitudes was the original vision of Mark Light, who looked at an abandoned and dilapidated building sitting kitty-corner from his church, and saw an opportunity for the First United Methodist Church to demonstrate God’s love and Jesus’ teachings beyond its walls. What was once Mike’s Mini-Mall (currently the location of the Quest Federal Union) would become The ReStore Community Center.

With support from the Methodist church, the empty space was transformed into a vibrant community center, focusing on providing community and support to those who were in need yet did not feel comfortable in a traditional church environment, carrying Jesus’ teachings out into the community, demonstrating his love to all who need it. Here we strive to take a hands on approach to ministry, demonstrating love and acceptance for all in our actions, not just our words.
The ReStore quickly grew beyond the confines of its current space, eventually moving to its current location at 210 N. Main St. We also grew in the scope of who we serve and the area we cover, moving beyond Ada, to the surrounding communities of Hardin County such as Kenton, Alger, and McGuffey. In 2019 the ReStore board made the decision to rechristen the center Beatitudes to create a clearer understanding about who we are and our mission to these communities not as familiar with us.
